What is your favorite part of working at Northwood Asset Management Group?

I love everything about working here and being a member of our team. I’ve been so fortunate to build long-lasting relationships with many people, including the agencies and debt buyers with whom we work.

In the receivables industry, what emerging trend has your attention?

The expansion of digital communication channels for consumers is really exciting! Most people I know prefer to communicate via text, email, webchat, or some other channel that’s not the telephone or letter mail. We all want the convenience of receiving and returning communications at our leisure and the digital options that consumers can opt-in to receiving will really boost customer satisfaction within the industry.

What industry change do you predict over the 5 next years?

Blockchain technology has the potential to radically change the way that we exchange sensitive information. Data privacy and data security grow more important with every day that goes by, and blockchain encryption can provide a secure and reliable method for the exchange of data and information.

How do you define success?

I view success as a continuous journey, not a destination. Being in the early stages of my career, every accomplishment moves me forward, giving me the opportunity to develop skills and amplify my performance. As a manager, I define success not just by my performance but also by the accomplishments of my team

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received in life?

The best piece of advice I’ve received in life is to never give up, stay positive, stay motivated, and be honest with yourself and everyone around you.

What advice would you give someone entering the receivables management industry?

Find a good mentor and listen carefully. In this industry, there is so much to learn, but with the guidance and advice of a good mentor, you can really accelerate your learning and advance your career. I think that ties back to the best advice I received– for those who are motivated, positive, and honest, this is an industry in which you can find a lot of opportunities, as long as you’re willing to work hard for them.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of attending The State University of New York at Buffalo as a full-time student along with being a full-time employee with Northwood Asset Management Group. I am really looking forward to earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science in 2021.

What is your favorite book?

One of my favorite books is “Ruth Bader Ginsburg: A Life” by Jane D. Mathews. Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a Supreme Court Justice who paved the way for women across our country in so many ways. I believe that Ms. Ginsburg had one of the most transformative legal minds of our time.

If you could do any other non-industry job for just one day, what would it be?

Growing up, I was really passionate about softball and I played at Shoshone Park with the Orioles for 8 years. I learned so many valuable life skills during those years. I still love the sport and if I had to choose another job for a day, it would definitely be a high school softball coach where I hope that I could inspire the players just as my coaches inspired me.

People would be surprised if they knew…

I’m still very active within the Buffalo, NY softball community! Every year, I look forward to summer when I play on a slow pitch volunteer team called the Manor Misfits (named after the bowling alley that sponsors us) in North Tonawanda, New York.
