What is your favorite part of working at Capital Compliance Group?

I really enjoy getting to know the people at the companies with whom we have relationships; in fact, a number of them have become personal friends.

In the receivables industry, what emerging trend has your attention?

Currently, both the increase in regulation and the increase in litigation have my attention. In particular, on the litigation side, I have seen more attempts to create personal liability for corporate officers, which is very disturbing and should have everyone in the industry concerned.

What industry change do you predict over the next 5 years?

I definitely predict more litigation- just Google “sue the collector.” In addition, I think there will be more regulation and regulatory enforcement. With these trends on the horizon, companies can no longer afford to be complacent about compliance.

How do you define success?

To me, success is being excited every morning when I wake up. Being able to look forward to what you are doing and having an amazing family and an incredible group of friends to do it with is an amazing feeling.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received in life?

Make the decision. Decide what it is that you want and commit to your decision. When you make that unshakeable commitment to your decision, magic happens.

What advice would you give someone entering the receivables management industry?

Study, study, study.

What are you most proud of?

I have an amazing wife and incredible kids. I think that having a close knit family is the biggest accomplishment you can have in life.

What is your favorite podcast?

I listen to audio books more than podcasts. I just finished “Barbarians at the Gate” by Bryan Burrough and John Helyar. It was published in 1989 and is about the leveraged buyout of RJR Nabisco. Written by investigative journalists, it is a pretty incredible read.

If you could do any other non-industry job for just one day, what would it be?

I would go back and be a radio announcer again (see my next answer).

People would be surprised if they knew…

From age 14 until my 20s, I worked as a disc jockey. This was back in the days of Top 40, disco, and album rock. It was so much fun and we got away with stuff you could not do today in the age of corporate radio. Back in the day, the coolest DJ in the station was the guy who could crank his headphones the loudest, and back in the day, I was very cool! Today, I wonder why I can’t hear people when they are talking to me!
