What is your favorite part of working at TransUnion?

It’s hard for me to separate great people and great culture. TransUnion sources so many intelligent people that are capable and motivated to produce great work, but also TU is committed to creating a culture where people can do great work.

In the receivables industry, what emerging trend has your attention?

  1. Regulatory focus on transparency, consumer preference, and analytics
  2. New sources of consumer behavioral data and tools to create value from unstructured data
  3. Evolution from multi-channel communication to omni-channel and how companies are managing orchestration

What industry change do you predict over the next 5 years?

Fully autonomous agents engaging in seamless consumer conversations across all channels (voice, chat/text, email, etc.).

How do you define success?

Figuring out how to find your happiness without impinging on that of others.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received in life?

Learn to adapt because change is coming from every direction.

What advice would you give someone entering the receivables management industry?

Understand what financially drives the business, learn what/how decisions materially affect key financial outputs and what trade-offs ensue and adopt a “test and control” mindset to address how to measure and manage strategies deployed to affect those outputs.

What are you most proud of or what is your biggest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishments have been built with the help of too many others which makes credit claiming feel a bit disingenuous.  I am proud of the work we are doing at TransUnion in the 3pc space but again, that’s a “we” not a “me” thing.

What is your favorite book or podcast?

Book – “All the King’s Men” – Robert Penn Warren

Podcast – “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me”

If you could do any other non-industry job for just one day, what would it be?

PGA tour pro in the final Sunday group at the Masters.  It’d be the most memorable 94 I ever shoot.

People would be surprised if they knew…

I worked in an Alaskan cannery for a summer processing fish.
