Receivables Info Executive Spotlight with Brit Suttell
What are your primary duties in your current role?
Managing outside compliance issues and litigation for clients.
Industry Q&A:
How did you join the receivables industry?
I grew up in the industry. My dad started a debt collection law firm when I was little. My first job was filing certified mail green cards! His paralegals had me helping out as soon as I learned the alphabet!
In the receivables industry, what emerging trend has your attention?
Responsible use of A.I.
What are your hopes for the receivables industry?
I hope that the industry can work together for common goals. The way the industry came together to deal with the Hunstein case was awesome, but too often different facets of the industry don’t work together.
What is your favorite part of working at your company?
The people! Both attorneys and clients in my firm, some of whom have become close friends.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received in life?
Not sure it’s the best piece of advice, but the one that has had the biggest impact on my life is from my dad: “Quitters are worse than losers.” But he recently amended it to include: “but losers might be happier.”
What are you most proud of, or what is your biggest accomplishment?
Professionally – either writing an amicus brief for the United States Supreme Court or being presented with the National Creditors Bar Association’s Don Kramer award.
Overall – I’m most proud of the family my wife and I have.
Personal Q&A:
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Either a lawyer or a high school history teacher.
If you work from home, what is the best thing about your home office setup/working from home? And if you work in an office, what is your favorite part of working in the office?
I work both from my home and my office.
My favorite part of being in my office is being surrounded by my Star Wars stuff.
My favorite part of working from home is my co-worker – my English Black Lab, Harrison.

Books: The Count of Monte Cristo and Ready Player One

Music: Depends. When I’m working- Star Wars soundtracks; when I’m working out – an eclectic mix of rock, alternative, rap, and pop; and when I’m on my boat – classic rock.
