Industry Q&A:

How did you join the receivables industry?

I started in the receivables industry as a receptionist for a collection agency back in 2006 and have been working my way up and around ever since. I was interested in learning more about the business as a whole, and still learn something new every day.

What is the most exciting emerging trend or technology in the receivables industry today, and how do you see it shaping the future?

All the new automation opportunities that continue to evolve and assist with the day to day is wonderful. It leaves room to focus on the bigger picture of things and not dwell so much on the day to day.

What are your hopes for the receivables industry?

My hope is that we continue to evolve to keep up with the ever-changing world of today with the new generations of consumers finding innovative ways of communications, payment options, etc.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing the industry right now, and how might it be addressed?

I think Omnichannel has proven to be a challenge for a lot of the industry. The days of talking on the phone just isn’t the way anymore. The modern day consumer is all about social media, electronic communications, and payments with ease. We have come a long way as of late but I feel we as an industry have a lot of room to think outside the box.

What is your favorite part of working at your current company, and what makes it unique?

I love the people I work with— we have such a passionate, knowledgeable and hardworking Team. TBI has always felt like family— always there to support you and hold out a helping hand when needed.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the receivables management industry?

Absorb everything you can and actually grow from it!

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received, and how has it shaped your approach to work or life?

The best advice I’ve ever gotten was to be true to myself, and I have— both on a personal level and a business level. Everyone has opinions and different ways of approaching things, which can cloud one’s judgment and moral standards. Always do and be YOU.

What are you most proud of, or what is your biggest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment was becoming a homeowner.

How do you stay informed and continue to grow professionally in an ever-evolving industry?

I stay informed by word of mouth, news, the internet and life experience. Growth is inevitable.

Personal Q&A:

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a teacher when I was young. I’ve always enjoyed helping others in every sense of the word.

If you work from home, what is the best thing about your home office setup/working from home? If you work in an office, what is your favorite part of working in the office?

I have a hybrid schedule. Working from the office gives me the opportunity to catch up and see my co-workers and ensure all the in-office needs are met. Working from home allows me to save and cut out travel time due to not having to commute every day and allows more freedom to balance my personal/professional life.

What are some of your favorite hobbies or activities outside of work?

I enjoy concerts, festivals, glamping (fancy camping), and antique shopping.

Do you have a pet? If so, tell us about them!

I have 3 cats – Samson is a tuxedo cat and is 10 years old, Mojo is a mixed breed and is just over a year old, and Voodoo is also a mixed breed and is also just over a year old. My fur babies!

Fun Fact About You: People would be surprised if they knew…

I’m very interested in photography— it’s something I’ve always wanted to get into as a hobby.
