Connect1 Supports Dr. Alexandra Kharazi’s Woman of Impact Campaign to Advance Women’s Heart Health
Connect1 is proud to support Dr. Alexandra Kharazi, a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon in San Diego, during her 2025 Woman of Impact campaign with the American Heart Association (AHA).
As part of the AHA’s Go Red for Women initiative, this campaign aims to raise awareness and funds to combat cardiovascular disease—the leading cause of death among women.
Partner Nancy Hughes represented Connect1 as a member of Dr. Kharazi’s Impact Team, contributing to a collective fundraising effort that has already surpassed $60,000. The campaign, which launched on National Wear Red Day (February 7, 2025), concluded in April with Dr. Kharazi named a local 2025 Woman of Impact Winner.
“At the last event, several of the patients Dr. Kharazi had saved attended, sharing their stories,” said Nancy Hughes. “Meeting them and their families made it crystal clear why she signed on for this campaign, and I am beyond proud of her and honored to have been part of her team.”
About the Woman of Impact Campaign
The Woman of Impact campaign is part of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement, which was launched in 2004 to raise awareness about heart disease. Despite being largely preventable, cardiovascular disease claims the lives of 1 in 3 women each year.
The Woman of Impact campaign is a nine-week nationwide challenge in which nominated female leaders assemble “Impact Teams” and compete to raise awareness and critical funds to support the AHA’s life-saving mission. At the conclusion of the campaign, one nominee in each local market is named the Woman of Impact based on overall community reach and fundraising success. The top national fundraiser earns the title of National Woman of Impact.
Dr. Alexandra Kharazi’s Woman of Impact campaign has not only raised over $60,000 to support AHA’s mission but also brought together a diverse network of supporters committed to changing the future of heart health for women. Her efforts have helped raise awareness about symptoms often overlooked in women, promoted preventative care, and honored the stories of patients whose lives have been saved through timely intervention and education.
Through campaigns like Woman of Impact, the AHA continues to fund innovative research, train frontline health care providers, and advocate for equitable health policies that improve outcomes for all.
