Just Released- Long Awaited CFPB Proposed Rules

The Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection, also known as the CFPB, just released the proposed rules that would govern the activities of debt collectors (as defined in the FDCPA).

The document clearly limits the number of calls a debt collector can make to a consumer to 7 per week, expands communication methods to include text and email (with consumers having the right to opt out), provides clarification on the time and place at which a debt collector can communicate with a consumer, and more.
