This infographic was designed to help our clients better understand what needs to be done to complete their DBA Debt Buyer Certification process. Certification can be achieved faster by selecting the right partners to help you through the process.
Education Requirements
The path to certification begins by attending the
DBA International and
ACA International conferences and webinars to earn educational credits needed to become a Certified Recievables Compliance Professional (CRCP). Assuming you meet the other qualifications, educational credits are the only thing between you and becoming a CRCP.
The DBA will accept past conference attendance to qualify for the education credits. To be sure, how your past conference attendance will affect your CRCP eligibility, call DBA and speak with their professional staff. The DBA staff is always happy to help you figure out how many credits you have already earned.
Preparing Documentation
After completing your CRCP, the next step is to complete your application for your organization to become a Certified Receivables Management Company (CRMC). This application includes an affidavit that your business is operating within the DBA guidelines. Before signing the affidavit, we suggest reviewing how your business manages and has documented these key compliance processes.
Professional Review
Once you have reviewed your policies & procedures internally, it may be time for a professional review of your documentation. Working with an experienced compliance attorney like
Dara Tarkowski from Akerman’s Chicago office provides insight into how your documentation will be viewed by regulators or in a court of law during litigation. This deeper understanding of your own documents can provide clear guidelines for needed improvements.
Your organization’s data security should also be evaluated by a third party to help identify any weaknesses in your systems. Partnering with experienced Technical Consultants like
Kolz Associates will provide an evaluation of your existing systems and provide guidelines for hardware, software and policy updates that may be needed to improve security.
Validation Audit
As part of the DBA Certification process, CRMC’s must be audited by an Authorized DBA Auditor. Working with auditors like Acumen Solutions Group provides the required business evaluation, but can also include other types of reviews including licensing and insurance policies.
