Attorneys General Launch New Consumer-Focused Website

State attorneys general are stepping into the consumer complaint and education arena boldly with their new national website. The National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) and its Center for Consumer Protection recently launched a comprehensive consumer-focused website. The site is designed to be a national hub of consumer protection information and resources for consumers from state and territory attorneys general.

ConsumerResources.org offers an interactive map of the United States that contains links to consumer protection resources for each attorney general office around the country. Educational materials are also available for a variety of consumer topics to help consumers to stay informed on important issues. Common scams, education, finances and money, healthcare, internet and privacy, and travel are among the topics covered.

Businesses should take note of a particularly consumer-friendly feature of the website – the ability to file a complaint with any AG office nationally. This one-stop shop for consumer complaints may help lead to a new national database aggregating this information. State AGs frequently use national data such as this on which to base their own investigations and enforcement actions.
