What is your favorite part of working at National Credit Adjusters, LLC?

I enjoy the people at NCA. We have a combination of family and corporate culture that make for an enjoyable work environment.

In the receivables industry, what emerging trend has your attention?

Digital technologies. I am looking at how NCA can leverage different digital technologies to improve customer experience, decrease expenses, and increase revenue. I am also looking at how ChatGPT could affect interactions with consumers.

What industry change do you predict over the next 5 years?

The continued reliance on non-traditional communication methods. As the digital generation gets older there is going to be a lower reliance on phone communication and a greater reliance on communicating via chat, SMS, WhatsApp, etc.

How do you define success?

Success needs to be defined before a task is started. Some tasks are very binary. An application works, or it does not, based on the defined parameters. Other tasks have a non-binary success definition. In the non-binary areas; Did you learn something? Did you grow? Did you improve someone else’s situation? Those are the keys to success.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received in life?

Don’t do everything yourself. Build a team, give them your expectations and get out of their way. This is something I learned in the Marine Corps.

What advice would you give someone entering the receivables management industry?

Leave your preconceived notion of the industry at the door. If you had asked me what a receivables company was when I started I would have been completely wrong. Treat consumers like you want to be treated and strive to provide them with the best experience, in a tough time, that you can.

What are you most proud of, or what is your biggest accomplishment?

My family is my biggest accomplishment. Outside of that I would say it is my time in the Marine Corps. Those were some of the hardest, most rewarding and life-shaping experiences I have ever had.

What is your favorite book or podcast?

Book: The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

Podcast: The Café Insider Podcast with Preet Bharara and Joyce Vance

If you could do any other non-industry job for just one day, what would it be?

I would love to be a sailboat captain. That being said, I have only really sailed a few times in my life and do not know how to be a captain. So if you get on a sailboat and I am at the helm, get off.

People would be surprised if they knew…

I will eat almost any food, but I do not like potatoes. French fries (as long as they are not too thick) and potato chips are good, but I do not like potatoes otherwise.
