Jon Daane with TEC Services Group featured on Executive Spotlight
What are your primary duties in your current role?
Revenue generation, team management, marketing oversight.
Industry Q&A:
How did you join the receivables industry?
I began in the ARM space in 2010 with Columbia Ultimate, now Finvi. After working with third-party clients on the legacy applications I quickly transitioned into running the government sales division for the company. One of my implementation partners at the time was TEC Services Group and after a brief 3-year hiatus from ARM, I found my way home.
In the receivables industry, what emerging trend has your attention?
I think consolidation is the key word in receivables today. Aside from market consolidation,
companies are also looking to bring together their technology solutions into a unified platform.
Now that collection systems are starting to catch up with modern technology, building a complete collection platform is an emerging trend for sure.
What are your hopes for the receivables industry?
My hope for the receivables industry is to continue focusing on the future instead of only focusing on the current business challenge. Our clients are hit hard every day from compliance, technology, revenue, and staffing obstacles and it is easy to lose focus on where you want to be in 10 years. My wish is that those that want to be in business 10 years from now, begin planning for growth.
What is your favorite part of working at your company?
Hands down my favorite part of our company is the people I get to call colleagues and friends. Our team is highly skilled and competent in what they do so getting to work with them every day is truly an honor.
Professional Motivation & Inspiration:
Share a quote that motivates or inspires you:
“Do one thing every day that scares you.” -Eleanor Roosevelt
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received in life?
My Grandfather, on his deathbed, told me to never burn bridges with anyone because you never know if either of you will need it in the future.
What are you most proud of, or what is your biggest accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment and the thing I am most proud of are my three boys. I love being a father and watching them grow up into the young men that the world needs.
Personal Q&A:
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
As a child, I wanted to be an Architectural Engineer and build buildings. I loved the idea of designing, implementing and supporting structures. Although I went to college for engineering and don’t work as an engineer today, I feel like I carry that way of thinking into everything I do both at work and home.
If you work from home, what is the best thing about your home office setup/working from home? And if you work in an office, what is your favorite part of working in the office?
My home office lives in our build-out basement far away from the craziness of our household. I have bookshelves positioned within my video frame that showcase various aspects of my life including my kids, dogs, family, achievements and passions. In addition, I have a pseudo vintage tube amp and speakers that allow me to have music on while I work.
What is your favorite book, movie, TV show, podcast, or music genre?
My favorite of anything changes so often I can’t speak to what my absolute favorite is. However, I enjoy dark drama type Netflix shows and a little bit of Ted Lasso to lighten the mood.
People would be surprised if they knew…
People generally know me pretty well as I try to be an open book with those I choose to engage in my life. I think people might be surprised to know that I might be the only person in history to ever be consumed by a Manta Ray!
Do you have a pet? If so, what kind and what’s their name?
I have two large breed dogs, Roscoe and Savannah.
